My Personal Reflection on The Teaching of Writing

Image
I can't help but think back on my writing philosophy before enrolling in this course as I began my adventure as a writing teacher. Writing has proven to be a difficult component of Language Arts for me since students don't seem to enjoy it. That, in my opinion, is mostly due to the way it is taught and the fact that people have difficulty expressing themselves. Writing can occasionally feel like a tedious, drawn-out process to teachers. which I have observed over my years as a teacher. I only assign descriptive writing and image sequencing to my kids; I never really got them to write anything in-depth. Despite this, I have always appreciated a "good" piece of writing since I enjoy reading.       I now think that writing instruction is vitally necessary. Writing is a skill that promotes creativity and critical thinking in students. Now with this new exposure to the way to teach students writing, I feel confident that I can execute my job as a Language Arts teac

My Evolution and Emotions in teaching writing now!

As a teacher of writing, I have embarked on a transformative journey that has not only honed my skills but also deepened my understanding of aspects of writing. Throughout my experience, I have encountered numerous challenges, revelations and moments of inspiration that have shaped my teaching philiosphy. In this blog post, I will be reflecting on my journey as a teacher of writing, I have to say, the switch from being a preschool teacher to a primary school teacher has been a total game changer. Before, when I was a preschool teacher, I used to be clueless about so many aspects of teaching writing, but now I feel like I’ve leveled up and can be a better teacher in the primary school setting. Before, I did not really grasp the writing process and was not aware about the 6 plus one trait. But now, I've fully embraced the writing process and the 6 plus one traits have become my guiding principles. One thing I've realized is that the writing process isn't just a straight pat

The World through the eyes of Poetry!

Image
The topic of this week's lesson was poetry, and it took me on a deep exploration of its complexities. At first, I noticed that I tended to appreciate poetry with caution, preferring to keep the poet's message simple. We began the lesson with a fun icebreaker that asked us to share our opinions about poetry. I realized the potential complexity presented by different literary methods, even while I acknowledged that I loved it within the confines of my comprehension. I taught in many different grades before going to college, and I concentrated on teaching rhymes and simple poetry forms. In last weeks class we studied' stanzas' and rhyming systems this week as we dug further into poetry. My eyes were awakened to the depths of significance found in poetry via analyzing poems such as "The Sea is a hungry dog" and "The Flattered Flying Fish." Our lecturer's chapter on poetry writing broadened my understanding and offered helpful advice for instructing p

The World of Poetry!

In this week’s session we focused on poetry that I will reflect on. While we were exploring poetry, I felt that poetry is a beautiful form of expression that allows us to delve into the depths of emotions and experiences. Some others indicated their disliked of this complex art form. For me the use of figurative language, rhythm and imagery creates a unique and captivating experience for both the writer and the reader.   During the session, students were chosen at random to recite the poem titled “The Sea” and “The Flattered Flying fish” and looked at the structure of the poems and the literacy devices that were used. I have a love for poem and it was clear to me to figure it out. I was able to recognize rhymes in the poem with the same endings and even counted the rhymes all with the same ending. I was able to count the rhyme scheme of a poem. It’s exciting to make progress in understanding  poetry. A  breakthrough moment in teaching poetry is when students start recognizing and c

The Teaching of Poetry

Poetry contributes extensively and specifically to the advancement of students' reading and writing proficiencies, which is a crucial aspect of education.       Students can experience a profound emotional connection with words, develop language skills, and investigate creative expression through the study of poetry, thereby fostering a transformative learning environment.      A significant advantage of integrating poetry into the academic curriculum is its capacity to elicit emotional responses from readers. Poetry possesses the ability to evoke emotions and establish a meaningful connection with its audience by means of judiciously selected vocabulary and striking visuals. This profound emotional involvement functions as a formidable incentive for learners to explore the realm of literature, cultivating an affinity for reading and inspiring them to perform poetry recitations, thus facilitating the enhancement of their oral communication proficiencies.  In contrast to pros

Creating a Climate for Writing

Creating an environment conducive to writing feels like setting the stage for an enthralling play. In this space, I believe every student has the potential to evolve into a prosperous creators.      After reading the article "Creating a Climate for Writing," I discovered a connection between the conducive environment that nurtures the development of an aspiring writer and the encouraging setting that a novice writer requires—in essence, a classroom that exudes an inviting aura comparable to that of a second home.      As deduced from the reading, the fundamental concept of the differentiated classroom resides in fostering an environment that advocates for recognition and regard for every student. This process surpasses the mere organization of tables and chairs, encompassing the development of an atmosphere customized to suit the specific requirements of every aspiring writer. Each aspect, ranging from the tangible arrangement to the psychological atmosphere, nece
